| Earlier this year, in preparation for the 2015 legislative session, the Texas Senate Hispanic Caucus (SHC) and the Mexican American Legislative Caucus (MALC) formed five policy taskforces to craft legislative recommendations in the areas of education, health care, immigration, civic engagement, and economic opportunities. The taskforces presented their recommendations to the members of the SHC and MALC this past summer.
Since that time, the SHC has taken the lead in hosting regional summits across the state to seek feedback on the five taskforces’ legislative recommendations from our local communities and leaders. In August and September, we held regional summits in Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas. Our next summits will be in El Paso on October 25th, Houston on November 15th, and the Rio Grande Valley on November 22nd. Please go to our Events page for more details. |
